To eat, or to play? That is the question...

Hmm...nice day right? Yeah! So what are you going to do? Lounge around and eat junk food? Play video games? Not me! But wait, it's cold out! If you're not a cold weather person, then maybe you should stay in and fix yourself a healthy snack. Not hungry? Tough it out and go outside!!! And oh please, don't complain!!! Think of it this way, how many sunny days are left in your life? Maybe it will rain forever more? Maybe it will always be cold and dark out? Well even though that is not true, you should go out and exercise!!!

Animal Safety

Everyone loves animals right? Wrong. Very wrong. Some people treat animals horribly. If anyone witnesses this, or knows of someone doing this to any animals, you need to tell someone who will do something right away! Here are some situations that could happen, but again, are not based on anyone, or any real life events.

Situation 1:
While at her friend Molly' house, Carly saw Molly's dad pick Snickers, their puppy, up by the scruff, and throw him down the stairs! Molly didn't seem to care, though she did notice. Carly asked him why he did that, and he said, "Tell anyone and Molly and you won't ever be together again! Hear me?" Carly didn't know what to do! Molly was her best friend, but Snickers, the poor puppy! What should she do?

Carly's choice and reasons: Carly told her parents, and they told the authorities, and Snickers was saved. She told because she knew Molly would forgive her, and realize it was the right thing to do, and Snickers would not be hurt ever again!

Now if anything like this ever happens to you or a friend, you need to tell IMIDIETLY!!!! Waiting is the worst thing to do. Who knows, if you don't do it, the animal could die the second you decide not to tell, and if you do tell, that might have saved its life.

Say no

This blig us not only about being fit, it's about how to say no to drugs, alcohol, tobacco, and flat out bad things. How to avoid peer pressure, and stand up for yourself. Notice the "health" part of the blog title. So here are some situations and some choices, thoughts, and feelings of the people involved. NOTE: These are made up and not about anyone in particular!

Situation 1:
Laura and her friend Judy were walking down the street when their friend Carl called them over to an ally, where he and a few other boys from school were standing. Jimmy, one of the boys there, said, "Hey, we have some beer we stole from our parents, want to try some?" The girls exchanged glances, these were their feelings and thoughts

Laura: Eww! That is so gross! And I know alcohol is so bad for you! But then again, they don't seem to be affected by it...but wait! What would my parents say if they found out?
Laura's feelings: Confused, unwanting of the beer, but tempted still.
Judy: Ohh Jimmy is SO cute! If I don't do it, I'll look like a dork, and he'll never like me!But what about Laura? What does she think? I know alcohol is bad an all, but it doesn't seem to matter to them...
Judy's feelings: EXTREMELY tempted, giggley over Jimmy, wonderous...

What do you think they did? Did they take the offer or not? Should they take it? What are some things that could happen to them if they do? Well, what would you do? Think about it...

Situation 2:
Kyle and Luke were at basketball practice when a Lily, a friend, came up and asked them, "Hey guys, the store down the road is having a whisky sale, and Chad's brother said he'd buy us some, wanna come?" The boys wondered what to do, then Lily told them, "Chad's brother is an awesome b-ball player, and he said it was all because of the alcohol, you want to be good, don't you?" The boys wondered, their feelings and thoughts are below:

Kyle: Well you know, Chad's bro is really good! Maybe it's true, I don't know much about whisky, but it doesn't seem harmful...I wonder if I took just a sip...would it really be that bad? I mean come on, it's just a drink, people take it all the time...
Kyle's feelings: Trying to convice himself to do it, pretty confident, but still wondering

Luke: Oh great! Lily is nice and so is Chad! And they're popular! This is my chance! And it's only a little bit! Maybe that will make them like me! And if Chad's bro did it before! But then again, it could destroy my liver and make me really sick! Oh this is tough...
Luke's feelings: unsure, wonderous, tempted, adventurous

See how tough some situations can be? I know a lot of you think, "Hey it's easy to say no!" But have you ever been in that position? Probably not, but you will. And yeah, it is easy to say no, but you have to support your reasons, and make sure you mean what you say. Be confident, and remember what things like that can do to you.

Stumped?

It's raining, or snowing, or just too cold to do anything outside. What can you do? Hmm...think hard. Can't come up with anything? Well that's okay because I have some things that you can do INSIDE that will get you active!

  • Dribble a basketball in the basement
  • Go to the Ice Rink and skate
  • Chase a younger sibling around the house
  • Clean your room
  • Do a craft
  • Make something healthy

Well, I think this blog has enough lists by now, so let's do something else! Here are some adorable pixles! So cute! (Thanks to Hannah from Homeschooling rocks)

What to do today?

Okay, so you are on vacation, sitting at home on the couch, thinking, "If I don't find something to do, I am going to bore myself to death!" Well, you won't need to go that far because I have some solutions that just might make your day brighter! Plus, they keep you healthy and fit all at the same time! Here are some ideas:

  • Walk your dog, or cat
  • Go for a jog
  • Clean the yard up
  • Practice for a sport
  • Make some healthy snacks
  • Invited a friend over to play OUTSIDE
  • Go for a walk with the fam, or by yourself
  • Go to the sport/community building and do something fun!
  • Just get active, and get outside!!!!!

So, now you have some ideas of what to do, but that is only going to keep you busy temporarily! What do you do next? Well, you can do another thing on the list, or you can make something healthy to eat! Maybe try the recipe I gave you earlier, or something else. How about pukpkin bread with applesause instead of oil? It makes it less fattening, and a whole lot healthier. But if cooking doesn't seem fun, and doing something on the list again seems boring, well, here is a list of ways to make fun things healthy and active.

  • Run around the arcade after every game you play
  • For every ten minutes you spend on the computer, jog for five
  • Every time you watch a TV show, walk your dog once around the block
  • For every basket you make in B-ball, run a lap (if you play that is)
  • Every minute you talk on the phone today, you can't tomorrow
  • Make a game out of cleaning outside

Some awesome ideas! And guess what? They are fun too! Getting fit, and staying healthy and active, helps make your community better tomorrow. If everyone was as comitted to stayin fit as you, the world would be a better place!

A good meal

Hungry? Don't wanna eat junk? Don't wanna eat some stupid salad, or fruit? I have the perfect solution! I call it...well it doesn't have a name yet, but it sure is good! And healthy!

Ingredients:
Any fruit, three or more
Lettuce

What to do:
Anything! Make any sort of design with the fruits, cut them in half, or in little pieces, leave them whole! Anything you want, that will make this meal more fun! But be sure to eat it, and not just do it for fun. It may not fill you up though, so there is a second course!

Ingredients:
Fruits
Milk
Ice
Blender

What to do:
Duh! Put it all together in the blender! But wait, cut up the fruit first, and make sure the ice is small, and don't put TOO much of anything in.

Well, there you go, a perfect little meal, maybe have some cheese and crackres on the side, who knows? With your imagination, and healthy food, you can do anything, and go anywhere!
